The Legatum Prosperity Index is the world's global assessment of
wealth.
Unlike other studies that rank countries by actual levels
of wealth, life satisfaction or development, the Prosperity Index produces rankings based upon the very foundations of prosperity those factors that will
help drive economic growth and produce happy citizens over the long term.

Hillary Clinton has vowed
the U.S. will step up support for global Internet freedom, as citizens using
social networking sites run by Facebook and Twitter organize
demonstrations spreading across the Mideast and North Africa.
Clinton, in her second major speech against Internet restrictions, has said recent protests show how technology can accelerate "political, social, and
economic change” or "slow or extinguish that change,” referring to government
efforts in Egypt, Iran, Syria and elsewhere to restrict
online and mobile media.
